Consistent and uncrowded but being so close to East Cape makes it prone to onshore winds. Always bigger than it looks. This day was a foot or two overhead at times and the biggest sets were breaking level with the headland between here and Horseshoe Bay making for an arduous paddle out. The slabby limestone headland can provide easy access out the back as long as the tide is not too high (at high tide, you can't access the slab). Generally favours lefts.
