Tokata in East Cape is an exposed beach and point break that has very consistent surf and works all around the year. Ideal winds are from the southwest with some shelter here from northwest winds. Handles onshore winds better than most spots Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the best swell direction is from the northeast. Waves at the beach break both left and right and there is a left hand point break as well. Best around mid tide. An uncrowded break, even when it is working. Beware of rips and rocks.
