Tonel Surf Guide
Tonel in South Portugal is a reasonably exposed beach and point break that has quite consistent surf. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here. Ideal winds are from the northeast. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the ideal swell angle is from the west northwest.Surfers ride left hand point. The quality of the surf isn't affected by the tide. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. Take care of the strong rips here.
