Tahunanui bar Surf Guide

Tahunanui bar in Nelson - Tasman Bay is a fairly exposed sandbar break that only works when conditions are just right with no particular seasonal pattern. The best wind direction is from the south and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Does not handle onshore winds very well Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell angle is from the north northwest. The sandbar breaks peel to the left. Unlikely to be too crowded, even when the surf is up. Dangerous rips are a hazard of surfing here.
