Praia Brava in Florianópolis is a fairly exposed sandbar break that is usually a safe bet. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here. Works best in offshore winds from the west with some shelter here from south winds. Tends to receive distant groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the east. The sandbar break offers both left and right hand waves. The quality of the surf isn't affected by the tide. When it's working here, it can get crowded.
