Anclote Island in Gulf Coast, Florida is a fairly exposed sandbar break. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here. The best wind direction is from the west and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. The short fetch makes for windswells rather than groundswells and the ideal wave angle is from the southwest. The sandbar break offers both left and right hand waves. Good surf at all stages of the tide. The location means that it never gets crowded.
