Alvor in The Algarve is a reasonably exposed beach break that has reasonably consistent surf. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here. Works best in offshore winds from the north. Most of the surf comes fis in the form of windswells and the best wave direction is from the southwest. The beach break offers both left and right hand waves. Best around high tide. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. Take care of the strong rips here.
