Alvor in The Algarve is a fairly exposed beach break that has fairly consistent surf. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here. Offshore winds are from the north. Most of the surf comes fis in the form of windswells and the ideal wave direction is from the southwest. The beach break offers both left and right hand waves. Best around high tide. Unlikely to be too crowded, even when the surf is up. Be wary of rips - they make surfing here dangerous.
