Ponta da Pinheira in Santa Caterina is an exposed point break that only works once in a while. Winter is the optimum time of year for surfing here. The best wind direction is from the southwest. Groundswells more frequent than windswells and the ideal swell direction is from the east. Best around low tide. When it's working here, it can get crowded. Surfing here means negotiating dangerous rips.
