Marloes Sands in Pembrokeshire is a quite exposed beach break that usually has waves, although summer tends to be mostly flat. The best wind direction is from the northeast. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the best swell direction is from the west southwest. The beach breaks offer lefts and rights. Best around low tide. Rarely crowded here. Submerged rocks are a hazard.

I've only surfed Marloes a couple of times but what I found was a great wave that packs some punch, set in beautiful surroundings and pristine water. Hellish lumps of bedrock poke up through parts of the otherwise sandy beach so its worth seeing it at low tide before you venture in. The beach curves around from SW facing to south facing and therefore it offers cross-offshore conditions when the wind is from the northerly sector. A great asset in this part of Pembrokeshire.

It is a bit of a drive down some narrow winding lanes to get here and there is nothing to be found other than the beach, a youth hostel and the spectacular coastal path on arrival. Parking is close to the beach at the top of the cliff and it is a relatively short hack down to the beach.

(editor: Low tide exposes a small beach on the other side of the isthmus to Gateholm Island. Not a great wave, but it can be just surfable when Marloes is too small)
