Kanon in Boland and Southern Cape is a sheltered reef break. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here. Works best in offshore winds from the west northwest. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the southeast. Reef breaks provide lefts and rights. Surfable at all stages of the tide. It very rarely gets crowded here. Hazards include sharks, sharks and sharks.
